PM pay tributes to Bangabandhu

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Friday morning paid tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his mazar at Tungipara following the execution of his killers.

Her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, nephew lawmaker Fazler Noor Taposh and Commerce Minister Faruk Khan, among others, accompanied the premier.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister arrived at Tungipara by a helicopter.

She is scheduled to attend a milad and special doa mahfil at Bangabandhu mausoleum mosque after Juma prayers to express gratitude to the almighty Allah for execution of the verdict in Bangabandhu murder case.

This is her first visit to Tungipara after execution of the verdict.

Special security measures have been taken at Tungipara in connection with the prime minister's visit. Police and Rab personnel are searching vehicles on roads leading to Tungipara.

She is expected to leave for the capital at about 3:00pm.
