Senior Awami League leader Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury has said the respective countries, where the six fugitive convicted killers of Bangabandhu have been hiding, should hand over them to Bangladesh.
Expressing her reaction to the media after the execution of five of the 12 convicts, Sajeda said the remaining killers who are at large would not get any respite. They should be handed over and face legal procedures. Replying to a question Sajeda, also the Deputy Leader of the House, said ``If there is humanity in the world, the respective countries should arrest the convicted killers and send them back to Dhaka.
The Awami League standing committee member told this to journalists when she was entering Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s official residence Jamuna to meet her Thursday morning.
On November 19 last year, the Supreme Court awarded death penalty to 12 convicted killers of Bangabandhu.
Five condemned killers- Syed Farooq Rahman, Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Bazlul Huda and AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed- were hanged early Thursday at Dhaka Central Jail.
Apart from the five executed killers, six are at large and another died in Zimbabwe in 2002.
The six convicts have been holed up in USA, Canada, Pakistan and Kenya and Thailand
Some of the six fugitives travel to different countries in the world for business purposes.
