6 fugitives to be caught & put on trial: Shafique

fffDhaka, Jan 28, Redtimesbd.com

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed Thursday informed that the government has taken effective measures to bring the six absconding killers of Bangbandhu.

``Necessary legal steps have already been taken to bring the remaining six condemned killers back to Bangladesh for placing them on trial,`` stated the Minister.

He said the absconding killers have to receive the similar consequence, which the five convicts had received.

The present government believes in rule of law, Barrister Shafique added while expressing reaction to the media at his secretariat office following the execution of five killers early Thursday.

The Supreme Court awarded capital punishment to 12 former army officers in Bangabandhu murder case on November 19 last year.

Out of 12 convicted killers, five have been executed, one died in Zimbabwe while six are at large. They are hiding in different countries in the world, including Canada and Pakistan.
